Greetings Fellow Sakya Monastery Sangha Campers!!!
When: August 26-29, Friday to Monday
Where: Gold Basin campground near Granite Falls
Let’s go camping! Join Dagchen Rinpoche, Dagmola, the monks and our great sangha for a weekend campout in the beautiful Cascade Mountains. Hike, meditate by the river, share food together, and relax in the peaceful scenic beauty.
Last year we had a great time, and we have reserved the same camping space for this year. It’s at Gold Basin in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest near Granite Falls the weekend of August 26th through the 29th. Check out these links for last year’s photos and for details on the campground:
– NW Dharma News: http://www.northwestdharma.org/news/Fall10/campsout.php
– US Gov’t: http://www.recreation.gov/camping/Gold_Basin_Wa/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70272
This particular location is simply ideal as it has direct access for H. H. Dagchen Rinpoche, hiking trails aplenty, much room for tents (both main area and adjacent sites) as well as a river. Facilities (including showers) are easy walking distance. Oh, the natural splendors to be enjoyed!
In order to be more kind to the environment, we ask that folks bring their own washable accessories for meals such as plates, utensils, napkins, and dish towels. We want to do a better job this year of minimizing our impact on the environment for the benefit of all sentient beings.
As in the past, we ask people to sign up if they want to enjoy the communal meals. This year the sign-up sheet will include a menu. The goal of the sign-up sheet is to utilize the practical wisdom of the adage, “Many hands make light work.” These sign-up sheets will be circulated following Chenrezi service.
LET’S GO CAMPING!!!! See you there!
