Prerequisite: Students attending this class must have had a Highest Yoga Tantra initiation for any deity where you visualize yourself as the deity.
[1] Students attending this class will have to have had either a major mandala empowerment (a Wangkur) into one of the major Tantras such as Hevajra, Kalachakra, Yamantaka, Guhyagarbha, Guhyasamaja, etc, OR have had an initiation of the blessings of body, speech and mind (i.e., a jenang) into any Highest Yoga deity practice with a sadhana where you specifically visualize yourself as the deity: such as Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezi), Manjushri, Vajrapani, Kurukulle, Tara or any of the many others.
[2] The student should be also doing the sadhana practice for any of those deities. Merely attending a mandala empowerment or an initiation does not qualify. You should be actually doing the practice regularly.
The class will be based on teachings found in Creation and Completion – Essential Points of Tantric Meditation by Jamgon Kontrul (trans. by Sarah Harding) and Deity, Mantra and Wisdom – Development Stage Meditation in Tibetan Buddhist Tantra by Jigme Lingpa, Patrul Rinpoche and Getse Mahapandita (trans. by Dharmacakra Translation Committee).
