7:00 pm: White Mahakala Initation begins
Known in Tibetan as Gonpo Yi-Shin Norbu (Wishfulfulling Tatagata Gem), this is Mahakala in his wealth deity form. White Mahakala is an emanation of Noble Chenrezi (Skt: Avalokitshvara) and thus is the single embodiment of compassion of all the Buddhas. We pay homage and invoke this Six-Armed Protector in order to remove material and spiritual poverty and to bestow wealth and to liberate us into a state of Buddhahood.
His Holiness Sakya Trizin is the 41st head of the Sakya Order of Tibetan Buddhism, and has been the supreme head of its many disciples for over fifty years. His Holiness is a biological descendent of the great masters who founded the order in 1073 and is considered to be an emanation of Manjushri.
He has been praised by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as ‘King of Vajrayana practitioners,’ and is renowned throughout the world for the brilliance and clarity of his teachings and his fluency and precise command of English.
Receiving teachings directly from His Holiness carries a special lineage of blessings from the founders of the Sakya Order, as well as from Manjushri himself.
