1:00pm The Meaning of Tsok in Tantric Practice (Zoom and In-Person)
January 28 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm PST
Taught by: Venerable Khenpo Jampa Rinpoche
The practice of offering Tsok is a profound act of both the Perfection of Generosity and the Perfection of Conduct.
As an act of generosity we are offering to the three aspects of the guru (outer, inner, and secret) as well as to all wandering beings. For the conduct, we are exercising the discipline of organizing the offering, the place, and most importantly our own behavior during the ritual.
The ganachakra (tsok) has profound meanings which Ven. Khenpo Jampa Rinpoche will cover including the qualities of the offerings to be made (fresh, new, and highest quality)–it should be approached with the correct view. It is not a party and the substances consumed are not to fulfill our hunger and thirst, but serve to remind us of the union of Wisdom and Loving Kindness.
The benefits of these offerings complete the two accumulations of merit and wisdom and help to ensure that one will be reborn in the purelands of the buddhas, dakas, and dakinis.
We will also discuss the methods for keeping these tsok commitments on the 10th, 15th, and 25th lunar days as well as the general food and beverage offerings for other practices.
There are no requirements for initiations to attend this profound and informative teaching. All are welcome.
