A facilitated group discussion of Enlightened Vagabond, Matthieu Ricard’s 2017 inspirational, entertaining, and accessible book of collected stories about 19th century non-sectarian Buddhist master Patrul Rinpoche. This conversation will be spread over 5 consecutive Sunday evening sessions from January 15 to February 19, 2023, with a break on Sunday January 22. If we’re able to cover 35 pages at each session, we’ll reach the end of the book. I encourage people to read in advance, but don’t shy away if you haven’t done the reading. That said, Enlightened Vagabond is an entertaining, accessible book, and is a painless way to learn a little about what the life of a great Buddhist practitioner and teacher looks like. I’m confident you’ll be happy about reading it. A good audiobook version is available too, if you prefer your books that way.
Facilitator Bio: Mike Morris
Mike Morris has been a mostly lazy, and occasionally diligent, student of Tibetan Buddhism since the early ‘90’s, mainly in the Sakya Tradition. He’s been inspired by the non-sectarian approach of Patrul RInpoche and of the Buddhist teachers he’s been fortunate to learn from. He likes to read and talk about books, among other topics.
