Time: 10:00 am PT
Led by: H.E. Abhaya Vajra Rinpoche
Ushnishavijaya, known in Tibetan as “Tsuktor Namgyalma” – or simply “Namgyalma” for short – was projected as an illumination from the cranial protuberance (tsuktor) of the Buddha to bring complete victory (namgyal) over all spiritual and temporal obstacles for Dharma-practitioners; particularly, obstacles to health, long-life, future lives and enlightenment. Along with Amitayus and White Tara, she is one of the three long-life deities of Tibetan Buddhism and a mainstay of Sakya Lhakhang Chenmo in Tibet, where the monks recite her mantra before starting their daily studies and prayers. It is not only the first time that the complete initiation of the nine-deity practice is being bestowed at Sakya Monastery in Seattle, it is also the first time that H.E. Abhaya Vajra Rinpoche has granted an initiation here in person.
